  Casting Pattern & Tooling

Hebert Foundry & Machine, Inc. has nearly 100 years of experience in the sand casting pattern and tooling industry. Our family owned and operated foundry and machine business offers a full range of services to facilitate our clients casting pattern & tooling needs.

HFM produces all of the foundry tooling (patterns and coreboxes) and the CNC (computer numeric controlled) fixtures in our state-of-the-art tool room. Experienced engineers, patternmakers, and toolmakers design and fabricate the tooling to best match the product criteria and engineering specifications.

The process of sand casting requires that a cavity be made in a sand composition into which molten material can be poured to produce a unique part. The cavity in the sand composition is created by using a casting pattern which is designed in collaboration with our trained staff of patternmakers and engineers. Primary tooling includes the production of the casting pattern, typically composed of wood, metal or plastic with the desired specifications of the finished part. Secondary tooling is needed when the desired part is designed with internal cavities or passageways requiring the insertion of cores into the mold cavity. HFM has extensive experience with a variety of materials to produce tooling & casting patterns that match our customer requirements.

For example:

HFM may make a casting pattern in mahogany if a smaller quantity is requested or if the design is revised frequently. Alternately, if a larger quantity is requested, and the design is stable, a metal pattern with metal coreboxes would be produced.

Don’t waste your company’s time and resources by choosing a foundry without machining capabilities. In many instances, a foundry’s tooling is designed to assist in the subsequent machining operations. Companies that purchase castings from foundries and then place the castings in machine shops lose the benefits and cost savings of a foundry and machine shop combination.

To ensure customer satisfaction, HFM will produce rapid prototypes to confirm specifications and design. Prototypes are created using Stereolithography and Fused-Deposition Modeling equipment.

Existing patterns and coreboxes? No problem. Our team of experts can usually adapt your company’s existing patterns and coreboxes into HFM compatible foundry tooling, usually with little or no cost to the client.

The staff at Hebert Foundry & Machine, Inc. has over 100 years of combined experience and the expertise to get the job done right, on-time, and on-budget.
